I thought I'd provide a final update on this project.
After working on this brief for a few weeks, I was slowly reaching the deadline.
Working alongside a fellow classmate, we managed to create a series of illustrations for the postcards. My lecturer kindly offered to help us with the product layout and typography. I really appreciated this additional help, as it allowed us to meet the project deadline.
Underneath are some of the final postcard designs:

Whilst we are still waiting on feedback from the law department, all comments so far have been positive. With a few minor tweaks, they'll hopefully be complete soon. I can't wait to see what the printed postcards look like.
Overall, I've really enjoyed working on this brief. In my original post, I spoke about my project intentions, more specifically how I wanted to work outside of my comfort zone.
I believe I've reached this target. To communicate these sensitive topics, I had to adapt my usual/cutesy illustration style into something more sophisticated . This provided quite the challenge, as it really tested my artistic abilities. I had to think about what seemed most appropriate for the target audience. The designs themselves had to be visually appealing, so that people wouldn't dispose of them. This is where we opted for a bright colour scheme and clear layout. It was great to work on an editorial brief, as I believe these illustrations will be a strong feature in my portfolio.
Originally, I was quite nervous about taking on this brief, however, I'm glad I did. This project has given me an insight into the freelance world, more specifically what it's like working for a client. The creative process has been really fun. I hope to work on more projects like this in the future.
